Description
Alpeggio Tsa de Chaligne is a beautiful stone alpine pasture in the splendid amphitheater enclosed between Pointe de Chaligne and Costa de Tardiva, in the municipal territory of Gignod.
The route is of medium difficulty in terms of length and elevation gain, but devoid of difficulty and basically safe, although like all routes over snowy terrain it requires suitable conditions.

Description
Partiti da Buthier e seguendo tracce di sci alpinisti raggiunto l’alpeggio di Roncaille e poi il Rifugio Chaligne( chiuso). Dietro il rifugio seguito il sentiero estivo nel bosco e poi per ampi pendii la Tsa de Chaligne. Alcuni di noi in momenti diversi hanno raggiunto anche il Col de Tardiva, già tracciato benissimo. In discesa abbreviato passando dall’alpeggio Arolla dessot su pendii intonsi.

Partiti dal parcheggio dove è posizionato il divieto di accesso ai mezzi non autorizzati. Ciaspole da subito. Abbiamo fatto il primo pezzo sulla poderale e poi sul sentiero nel bosco. Dopo essere arrivati al Rifugio Chaligne, abbiamo proseguito nel bosco arrivando all’Alpe Chaligne. Parecchi scialpinisti e tre escursionisti che, non avendo le ciaspole, si erano fermati al Rifugio e stavano rientrando. Francesca ed Alessandro (CAI Biella)

Overview
The route is of medium difficulty in terms of length and elevation gain, but devoid of difficulty and basically safe, although like all routes over snowy terrain it requires suitable conditions.
The ascent first takes place over wide snow-covered pastures where scattered huts and alpine pastures are encountered, then one enters a wooded section (this is the part of the route that is usually shaded) and finally through a gentle little valley one arrives at the alpine pasture basin.
In the winter period, part of the route will be in the shade, while it is definitely pleasant in early spring.
In the Aosta Valley dialect, the term "Tsa," which is often found alongside the names of alpine pastures, stands for high, sunny pastures.
Reaching the start
After 4 km you reach Buthier, and you can choose whether to park near the hamlet, or continue 1 km more until the parking lot where the asphalt road ends (in winter time park at the hamlet).
The route
You ascend the beautiful snow-covered meadows, which immediately offer panoramic views of the high valleys of Ollomont and Valpelline. After passing a wooded strip, you meet the inter-pasture track (one of many) at Mendey 1562 m.
You set off following the track in a southerly direction, reaching and passing the pastures of Roncaille and Rombason , where it is possible to follow a shortcut that allows you to find the road again further upstream.
You continue on the easy trail, where there is often an excellent track, which, following the course of the wooded ridge, in a semicircle leads to the beautiful Chaligne Refuge, 1936 m (closed in winter) located at the edge of a pine and larch forest.
On the right of the hut is the marker post for the path to Alpe Tsa de Chaligne: you now climb with a somewhat steeper slope right behind it, entering the forest.
After passing over a hump where even the trees are thicker, you enter a slightly marked depression where the trees gradually thin out and allow a glimpse of the imposing snowy mass of the Pointe de Chaligne.
After the depression, you enter the vast plateau devoid of trees, where on the right at the opposite end the Tsa de Chaligne is already clearly visible. All that remains is to cross the huge snow-covered pasture on the level, reaching the pasture situated in a well-sunlit position below the Col de Tardiva, and looking towards the nearby Pointe de Chaligne.
From here one can enjoy a vast panorama of the mountains surrounding Aosta and the "giants" of Valpelline such as the Grand Combin and the Dent d'Herens, as far as the more distant peaks of Monte Rosa.

Description
Noi siamo partiti da dove c’è il divieto di transito per i mezzi non autorizzati a quota 1.570; abbiamo fatto la strada perché all’inizio del sentiero nuovo c’era un cartello di divieto di accesso per lavori. Con tagli, facendo il sentiero nel bosco siamo arrivati al Rifugio Chaligne; abbiamo proseguito nel bosco e poi tenendoci alla sinistra orografica siamo arrivati alla Tza de Chaligne. La prima parte della discesa la abbiamo fatta tenendoci alla destra orografica fino ad entrare nel bosco.

Le ciaspole le abbiamo messe a quota 1.700 circa; fino al Rifugio si potrebbe salire anche senza, dopo però diventano molto utili. Francesca ed Alessandro (CAI Biella)
