Overview

Tête de Bois de Quart is the last offshoot of the long coastline that departs from Mont Flassin via Testa Cordella and acts as a watershed between the orographic basins of Vallon de Flassin and Vallon de Citrin.
Discreetly panoramic summit, it offers splendid views of the Coumba Freida below.
The proposed route initially runs along the Vallon de Flassin and then veers sharply to the right to ascend the wooded slope to the summit.
The descent takes place on the same slope with the crossing of the woodland traversed on the ascent that make it slightly less easy to arrive at the valley below where the classic descent to the starting point is resumed, which, without any particular obligatory passages, make the descent very pleasant.
The itinerary, classified MS, has some steep sections that require ability to identify the best route in the dense forest of the middle part and excellent ski control.

Reaching the start

From the Aosta East tollbooth, take the tunnel leading into the Great St. Bernard Valley and continue along it, passing the villages of Gignod and Etroubles.
At Saint-Oyen, leave the E27 state road by turning left, before the village, following the "Flassin-Cerisey" signs.
Continue for about 2000 m until you reach the parking lot of the foyer du fond in Flassin.

The route

From the parking lot proceed in a southwesterly direction up the snow-covered meadows, leaving the ski resort lift carpet on the left, aiming for the Rond cottages clearly visible at the edge of the forest.
With not excessive ascent we enter the valley always keeping to the orographic right, before crossing the docile stream just before the Flassin dessous alp.
With an unobstructed route one continues the ascent following mainly the summer roadway passing the hamlets of Flassin du milieu and Flassin and entering the valley that slowly opens into the beautiful Comba de Flassin.
At an altitude of about 1780 m you leave the track for the upper part of the gorge, veer slightly to the right, and cross the sparse forest until you reach the harmless Torrent de Flassin, which is passed just before veering sharply to the right.
Rise the slope with a long diagonal between the larches.
Overcome the initial steeper part around an altitude of about 2000 m and meet the summer trail and veer right again, covering the last part of the ascent with less inclination.
Having passed the forest bivouac (elevation about 2200 m), now within sight of the goal, we leave the sparse forest to reach the rounded summit topped by a wooden cross 2248 m.

Descent:
The descent takes place on the uphill tracks without any particular route obligations until the parking lot.
For the first part of the descent the slope is not very steep then the descent becomes more complicated due to the slope and the passages through the forest.
Finally the part takes place on the roadway traveled uphill usually well beaten by the frequency of descents of enthusiasts.
