Description
Punta Valletta is a beautiful peak that divides three valleys: the Vallon de Sereina, the Comba de Citrin and the Vallon de Vertosan.
It turns out to be one of the highest summits located south of the Coumba Freida.
The approach is fairly long and consists of crossing the long Vallon de Citrin, which, after crossing the wooded step behind the Coumba, spreads over a wide hanging valley to the foot of the hill of the same name.

anzitutto un sentito ringraziamento a Chopin e soci per la traccia. Salito fino in cima, ho usato i rampant (non proprio indispensabili) seguendo una traccia già presente. Ultimi metri sci sullo zaino e salita a piedi e visto che li avevo dietro ho pure messo i ramponi. Mano a mano che salivo sono arrivate le nebbie fino al colletto prima dell’ultima cresta. Neve bella per la discesa, peccato per la scarsa visibilità. Grazie ai miei sci da battaglia sceso lungo il torrente dove comunque erano già presenti tracce, chiaramente le solette non hanno gradito molto.

gita con Daniela, Marco e Sergio, oggi tutto il vallone di Citrin a nostra esclusiva disposizione, per prudenza ci siamo fermati al col Clochotte 150 mt sotto la Valletta, bellissima neve nella parte alta poi cercando sempre ottima e discesa appagabile.

Overview
It turns out to be one of the highest summits located south of the Coumba Freida.
The approach is fairly long and consists of crossing the long Vallon de Citrin, which, after crossing the wooded step behind the Coumba, spreads over a wide hanging valley to the foot of the hill of the same name.
The route proposed here takes place in this very atmospheric setting before concluding with the ascent of the summit along its northeast ridge.
The overall difficulty is not high although the final ascent to the summit requires great attention to snow conditions.
Given its location, the summit is extremely panoramic with a wide 360° over the main Aosta Valley peaks.
The descent is on the same slope with several possibilities for variants and concatenations with other itineraries (see ascent to Mont Flassin).
The final part of the descent remains less open to alternative solutions.
Reaching the start
At Saint-Oyen, leave the E27 state road and turn left, before the village, following the "Flassin-Cerisey" signs.
Continue for about 2600 m until you reach the parking lot in front of Cerisey.
The route
Continue on level ground until you reach a wide snowy pasture from which the actual access to the Vallon de Citrin departs.
Briefly ascend the snowy track of the rural road and then abandon it almost immediately, entering the initial part of the valley.
After crossing the rural road again, take the summer trail that with a series of short switchbacks climbs the dense forest quickly gaining altitude. Near the ferruginous spring of Citrin the path becomes more linear, keeping to the edge of the wide ridge.
Step out of the woods and shortly reach the cottages of Citrin du milieu 2005 m.
From here on, the spaces open up and the ascent, always with not excessive slopes, becomes a pleasant immersion in the snow with a succession of bumps while the imposing silhouette of Punta Valletta appears to the right of the eye.
Leaving below on the left the Citrin dessus pasture, proceed in the direction of the summit keeping to the right of the valley.
The final part of the ascent normally takes place on the northeast ridge which although fairly steep remains, with correct snow conditions, the best solution for the ascent to the summit 2803 m.
Descent:
The descent takes place on the ascent tracks without any particular route obligations until the parking lot.
From the summit descend the summit slopes choosing the best lines of descent along the eastern slope.
On reaching the central part of the Vallon de Citrin follow the ascent tracks with the possibility of some digression before the final part of the descent quite obligatory.

Neve ottima. Unico problema è il tatto nel bosco che in discesa si fa sci in spalla (neanche 10 minuti). Nei tratti più ripidi fare attenzione. È facile staccare piccole valanghe a lastroni. Uno sciatore sceso sul versante nord (vallone del Col Serena) ha staccato una valanga che ha interessato tutto il canalone.

Si parte ancora sci ai piedi dall’auto, ma per poco. L’innevamento è ottimo, appena si abbandona la pista di fondo. Salito e sceso stando dalla parte più soleggiata del vallone. Neve perfettamente trasformata dappertutto, quindi discesa perfetta su moquette. Solo nel primo pezzo, scendendo dalla punta ho trovato simil farina un po polenta, ma ben sciabile. Ultima parte nel letto del torrente ancora percorribile.

Buon innevamento su tutto il percorso. Due dita di neve fresca alla partenza fino al massimo 20 cm più su.Sentito assestamenti che ci han fatto ben pensare a questo percorso abbastanza sicuro per oggi.Farina in alto ma dai 2000 in giù polentone nei tratti più soleggiati .

Che dire, ci sono giornate nelle quali bisognerebbe dedicarsi ad altro. Consiglio la salita o dal torrente o versante sx or. . Eccellente rigelo, cielo plumbeo e molto umido, arrivati all collettino poco sotto la punta . Ultimo tratto da fare con attenzione data la neve ghiacciata ed oggi nn ne valeva la pena. Discesa drammatica,neve di tutti i tipi salvo che sciabile. Rientrati dal canale del torrente su neve asfaltata e gobbe . Oggi era meglio fare fondo.

il Percorso è ampiamente tracciato. Il tratto nel bosco che segue il sentiero estivo lo abbiamo scomodamente risalito senza rampant ( oggi sarebbe stato molto meglio utilizzarli oppure, probabilmente, salire la gorgia da noi seguita in discesa )nessun problema di progressione né prima né dopo. Trovato ancora ampi spazi di neve polverosa( bisogna un po’ cercarseli )per i due terzi superiori mentre dalla malga Citrin in giù il percorso è praticamente una pista battuta a gobbe. Consigliabilissima!! Vietato usare la pista da fondo agli skialp

Oggi max una decina di skialp nel vallone( la maggior parte verso il col Citrin ), meteo perfetto ed innevamento ideale. Vincenzo ed uno skialp svizzero hanno raggiunto la punta ( entrambi scesi su neve perfetta )con i rampant, un ciaspolatore andato in punta con i ramponi mentre io ed un altro skialp ci siamo fermati alla sella sulla cresta finale.

Description
Molta gente sul percorso. Saliti senza problemi fino al colle, dove ci siamo fermati per questioni di tempo e perchè in cima il vento ha lavorato abbastanza lasciando crosta non portante poco piacevole. La crosta continua fino alla fine dell’ultimo valloncello, da qui poi neve molto divertente e parecchio spazio intonso per sbizzarrirsi. Il bosco finale è abbastanza tracciato ma ancora divertente, la neve diventa poi dapprima pesante e in seguito crosta da rigelo molto dura nell’ultimissimo tratto prima del parcheggio.
