Description

Da Eternod siamo arrivati al Paglietta molto facilmente. Purtroppo non abbiamo fatto l’anello perché in cima ha iniziato a piovere un po’ e abbiamo preferito scendere dal percorso fatto all’andata. Mi è piaciuto molto, ci tornerò con condizioni meteo migliori.

Description

Fatto l’anello come da descrizione scendendo, però, ad intercettare più in basso il TDC e l’AV1 ritornando ad Eternon. Il sentiero verso Tracaudette si perde un pò nel breve attraversamento del boschetto, ma basta proseguire in traverso.

Giornata super calda. Incontrati in cima una signora col figlio ed altri quattro che ci hanno poi raggiunto in cima. Oggi con la moglie Stefania e l'amico VIPI5547. più info e foto su climbandtrek.it

Reaching the start

From the Aosta East tollbooth take the tunnel leading into the Great St. Bernard Valley and continue along it, passing the villages of Gignod and Etroubles.Just before Saint-Oyen turn right, following the signs for Prailles. Go up the communal road for 3.6 km until you reach the junction for the small village of Prailles dessous: go straight on in the direction of Eternod dessus, which you reach a couple of kilometers later. Without descending into the hamlet, continue on the road, which becomes a dirt road for about 1 km, until the second hairpin bend where you park; beyond it there is a traffic ban.

The route

From the hairpin bend where there is a no-trespassing sign, follow trail No. 17, which travels along the dirt road on the left, entering a sparse larch forest that lets the sunshine filter through. At 1773 m you meet a secondary road on the left that should be ignored, instead taking a few hairpin bends until you find a second junction, this one on the right, with the Grand Combin Tour route, which should also be disregarded as you continue on the track that bypasses the southern slope of Mont Paglietta.At the end of a long traverse you arrive at the entrance to the verdant Barasson valley, cross the stream on the bridge and reach the beautiful Barasson alpine pasture 1868 m, located at the edge of an extensive coniferous forest.As you leave the dirt tracks, following trail marker 17 you enter the interior of the valley staying to the left of the watercourse. Initially the trail is a bit closed in the hollow, but after passing a grassy hump the valley widens with the path to the Colle di Barasson in front.Getting to the wide pasture with the ancient pastures of Cretoux 2084 m, you descend slightly to cross the stream, then climb the grassy slope to a junction at about 2100 m. You leave trail No. 16, which continues straight on to Barasson Pass, turning sharply northward taking you to the slopes of Mont Paglietta. The trail now becomes a bit more strenuous, with the diagonal ascent of the grassy slope until you reach a vast meadow used as pastureland that should be crossed briefly and then continue on the left until you come to the ruin of Alpe Paglietta 2318 m.Continue to the right reaching the side of the mountain, which you will ascend with a few serpentines climbing inside a modest gully that culminates with a very scenic grassy promontory 2439 m.Between grass and a few areas of scree you will head toward the collar at the base of the squat summit of our peak. We reach the easy ridge that, between stones and a few short ups and downs, leads to the large cairn of stones placed on the summit of Mont Paglietta.

Description

Piacevole passeggiata molto tranquilla, ruscelli con molta acqua, belle fioriture e bei panorami disturbati solo un po’ dai tralicci dell’alta tensione. Qualche residuo nevaio da attraversare vicino al colle, con neve sfondosa. Incontrato un branco di camosci in fondo al pianoro in salita e 3 cervi nel bosco in discesa. Sono sceso direttamente verso valle dalla punta sud (con grosso ometto), direzione sud su ampia cresta sino a incontrare tracce di sentiero che, non sempre evidenti, mi hanno riportato nella bella frazione di Eternon di sotto. I valloni a nord hanno ancora parecchia neve sopra i 2200 m.
