Description
Partito da Mendey. Sempre bellissima la Comba d’Ars. Per fare una cosa nuova , sono salito direttamente per pendii erbosi ripidi all’ultima punta prima della costiera del Fallere (con qualche roccetta e passaggetto finale). Su carta 1:5000 è quotata 2738m Qualche tuono sul Fallere a metà giornata e poi pioggerellina per una ventina di minuti; ma poi è tornato il sole.

Saliti fino a poco sopra l’alpe Arsy come da itinerario. Poche centinaia di metri lungo la poderale sopra l’alpe abbiamo preso a dx un sentierino ben segnalato (ometti, frecce gialle) che con bel percorso sale tra balze rocciose e si porta in versante est della Cote Labiez. Dal punto dove il sentiero segnalato inizia a scendere verso St.Oyen (poco sopra si trovano i ruderi di un alpeggio con sorgente), abbiamo preso a sx un vecchio sentiero all’inizio poco evidente, poi più visibile, che con strette svolte e dopo aver attraversato un tratto franato, sbuca sulla Cote Labiez. Il sentiero prosegue sul dorso e poi sul fianco sx salendo della cresta con percorso panoramico. La vista si apre sul gruppo del monte Bianco e in breve si raggiunge il bivacco della forestale e la vetta del Labiez. Noi dalla vetta siamo scesi direttamente sul sentierino sottostante su roccette e terreno ripido ma si può anche tornare indietro brevemente e prendere il sentiero dai pressi del bivacco. Seguendo il bel sentierino di cresta siamo scesi al Col d’Ars e da qui per tracce e sentiero (tubo dell’ acqua) all’Alpe Tsa d’ Ars. Quindi per poderale all’alpe Ars dalla quale siamo rientrati al parcheggio seguendo la mulattiera per Etroubles e, dopo un bivio, la poderale bassa, con percorso fresco nel bosco. Gita dallo sviluppo notevole (18.5 km) ma varia e interessante per l’ ambiente solitario e i panorami.

Overview
The hike does not present particular difficulties although in the final part it takes place in the absence of a marked path, however the tracks are marked and evident; therefore it is suggested to experienced hikers. The trail is quite long but strenuous only in the concluding section, however, it requires good training.
The Vallone d'Ars will be a real discovery, especially in early summer it is lush and green, full of flowers and furrowed by a beautiful stream that is fed by the Laghi d'Ars.
Reaching the start
After 4 km you reach Grand Buthier, then continue on the asphalt road that goes up the whole hill crossing the pastures passing Gorrey, and reaching the end of the asphalt at the hairpin bend at an altitude of 1523 m in the locality of Mendey where the trails begin. You park in the clearings at the side of the road; you cannot continue along the dirt road because it is forbidden to transit.
The route
You continue above the basin, moving westward along the beautiful trail through a cool larch forest alternating with pasture clearings. You arrive at the ruined alpine pastures of Meriau damon 1740 m, which you leave to the right to continue on the obvious path through dense forest before reaching Alpe Collet 1929 m, from where there is already a fine view of the middle Great St. Bernard Valley.
At Collet you meet a dirt track with path 3B coming from La Cheriettes (hamlet of Gignod) and continue to the left following it with a pleasant and almost flat path: we are on the Ru de Collet route, also interesting to ride on a mountain bike.
The track continues in the shady forest on the west side of Costa de Tardiva, suddenly entering the green Comba d'Ars, with the homonymous mountain pasture already visible at the foot of Mont Labiez.
Reaching Alpe Ars 1974 m, the forest ends, leaving room for the beautiful pastures furrowed by the lush stream; the marked trail also ends but it is sufficient to continue the walk following the wide dirt road, now climbing moderately, that enters the heart of the valley.
We reach the large pasture of Tsa d'Ars 2260 m, and a little further on the right at a group of old stone barns at 2369 m, where the dirt track ends.
The trail, well evident although not marked, changes direction radically as it continues to the left and with a long upward traverse takes you below the vertical of Col d'Ars 2533 m, which is reached without difficulty on grassy terrain.
From the pass you must continue to the left, following the ridge that culminates with Mont Labiez, not far away; the first part is almost flat and sinuous, after which the ascent resumes more marked. Just below the summit you leave the ridge, which becomes steeper, continuing on the trail that flanks the slope and reaches a wide grassy saddle where you will find the Mont Labiez Bivouac (private, for use by the Forestry Corps) and a characteristic wooden cross. A few meters above the bivouac you can easily touch the 2629 m peak, from which there is an extensive panorama of the Grand Combin, the upper valley of the Great St. Bernard and even Mont Blanc.
Descending, one follows the ascent route backwards, with the possibility of a short but worthwhile detour to reach the little-known Ars Lakes: just below the Col d'Ars, on the right (descending) one meets a trail heading south, and on a slight descent one arrives at a hidden basin at the foot of Mont Fallère with its two small, deep blue lakes 2481 m and 2521 m.

Description
Bellissimo posto, condizioni ideali per andarci adesso: assenza di neve, tanta acqua spumeggiante nel torrente, vallone verdeggiante e bellissime fioriture. Partito da Mendey ho inizialmente seguito la sterrata per l’Alpe d’Ars fino ad incontrare un bivio secondario che mi ha portato sul sentiero n.3 che ho seguito sul tracciato del Ru Collet fino all’alpe Ars. Qui la strada prosegue ma più ripida ed più dissestata ma comunque il percorso è sempre piacevole. Alla Tsa d’Ars ho proseguito verso le vecchie stalle sovrastanti e poi salito dritto per dritto puntando alla cima senza tracce su erba. In discesa invece ho seguito il panoramico sentiero sulla dorsale fino al Col d’Ars, quindi ho fatto una breve divagazione per andare a vedere i due laghetti d’Ars sotto il Mont Fallere, meritevoli. Peccato che in questo vallone i sentieri non siano nè segnalati nè particolarmente curati. meriterebbe maggior frequentazione. Discesa dallo stesso itinerario di salita fino al bivio (anche qui non segnalato) per l’Alpe Tardiva ed il relativo colle, dal quale ho proseguito per la Punta Chaligne.

Bella scoperta di questo vallone meno gettonato ma più selvaggio e rigoglioso rispetto alla iper frequentata Chaligne. Il Bivacco in cima è chiuso in quanto di utilizzo dei forestali. Ovviamente nessuno in tutto il vallone.

Gita che in salita si percorre su strada poderale fino alla Tsa d’Ars poi sentiero che a volte si perde nei prati, ma comunque sempre evidente. Nessuna palina segnaletica !!! quindi attenzione in caso di nebbia. In discesa fatto sentiero alto, segnato da labili segni gialli che si congiunge con la traccia di salita all’altezza dell’alpe Ars, di qui volendo si prende in sentiero che scende ad Etroubles e quando si incrocia la strada poderale girando a destra in 30/40min. si giunge alla macchina.

Oggi con Gianni e Fabrizio abbiamo fatto questa bella gita in questa valletta alle spalle del monte Fallere dove non eravamo mai stati. Panorami a 360° dalla cima oggi un po rovinati da nuvole che coprivano le maggiori cime della valle. Resta comunque un bellissimo posto con il caratteristico bivacco a 5min. dalla cima.

Siamo saliti dal vecchio alpeggio sopra Tsa d’Ars su un sentiero che parte soprdi esso è taglia in diagonale il pendio; dal pianetto abbiamo poi proseguito su tracce inerbite arrivando in breve alla dorsale poco sotto la croce. Abbiamo messo alcuni ometti.
