Description
The Great St. Bernard Pass is certainly one of the magical places in the Aosta Valley; known since antiquity, it still has the remains of the Roman road and the two large hospice buildings.
The pass, in summer, can also be reached by car, but the proposed slow ascent allows you to enjoy all the beauty of the place.
The Great St. Bernard Museum located inside the hospice preserves the artifacts found on the pass, including a bronze of the God Poeninus, coins and votive tablets.

Di ritorno al colle per assaporarlo meglio adesso che è ancora chiuso dal versante italiano( l’apertura è imminente,mezzi dell’anas impegnati negli ultimi ritocchi,in Svizzera invece si può salire fino al colle).Il sentiero è pulito qualche albero caduto e qualche trattino con acqua ma irrilevante per la gita.La pendenza è sempre costante,dolce senza strappi eccessivi, insomma un bell’andare.

Beh che dire salire su in assenza totale di macchine,moto,frotte di gente ovunque,rende la gita ancora più bella.Qualche macchina al colle dalla parte svizzera incontrati giusto 4,5 escursionisti nulla più.L'unico neo della gita è che il lago al colle è in secca, speriamo si riempa adesso che scioglie la neve perché a metà lago affiorano i fanghi.Tot gita con qualche piccola divagazione 950 D+e 14,7km

Description
Partiti con cielo nuvoloso, ma dopo soli 10 minuti é uscito un sole caldissimo. Lasciata la macchina nel parcheggio di Saint Rhemy siamo saliti e poi rientrati dal sentiero 13b/103/TDC: i segni e le paline riportano sempre una o due di queste indicazioni. Il sentiero è molto bello e facile, adatto a tutti.

On the return journey, a visit to the beautiful village of Saint-Rhémy is a must.
Reaching the start
Just before Bosses, turn right onto State Road 27 for the Great Saint Bernard Pass.
Go past the village of Saint-Rhémy and continue to the next hairpin bend.
Just after that, on the left, the road down to the village begins, where you can leave your car.
The route
Follow it for a stretch to take the mule track on the right that climbs gently among the larch trees.
The beautiful trail continues halfway up the slope, passing a few streams, and then climbs six hairpin bends higher to take you above the entrance to the Great St. Bernard Tunnel.
You continue until you rejoin the path coming in from the right.
You continue up the hillside reaching Fonteinte where some large buildings are located.
You cross the paved road and continue along the wide basin (to the left is the characteristic rocky spire called Tour des Fous).
You cross the wide basin in the direction of the large avalanche-protection tunnel.
Without reaching it, you cross to the right and arrive on the asphalt road, which you cross to climb steeply to the beginning of the hill where the remains of the Roman road and the large statue of St. Bernard are visible.
You thus arrive in the wide hill with the lake in the center and on the Swiss side the large hospice.
Following the car road you reach the hospice.
A visit inside the hospice and to the museum is a must.

Description
Da Saint Remy preso la Francigena 103 (TDC),dopo 300 metri circa si sbuca sulla statale,dopo 50 metri di asfalto abbiamo ignorato il sentiero 13 sulla destra(che poi abbiamo fatto al ritorno)proseguendo ancora su asfalto fin ad arrivare in prossimità di un grosso parcheggio dove le paline sulla destra indicano la continuazione della Francigena. A circa 2000 MT troviamo una bella fontanella unico punto per rifornirsi, dopodiché sempre su’ fino alla casa cantoniera di (Fonteinte)e poi ancora fino alla galleria paravalanghe attraversando la statale 2 ,3 volte.Dopo la galleria un ultimo strappetto ed eccoci al Colle.Il ritorno sempre su Francigena fino a incrociare le paline segnavia sulla sinistra sentiero 13 Plan Puitz che con un lungo e pianeggiante sentiero a mezzacosta porta ad un bivio un po’ segnalato così così , (senza paline)perché ci si trova il 13D che porta sicuramente a Plan Puitz e il 13 che abbiamo seguito che scende attraversando molti confluenti che possono confondere.Scendendo sempre non ci sono problemi si risbuca in statale e poi sulla destra si rientra a Saint Remy.

Beh che dire il Grande è sempre il Grande, sarà per la storia sarà per il paesaggio ma questo luogo ha sempre qualcosa di magico.! (Anche per me che non sono un gran amante del parecchia gente sul percorso.) 😄
