The La Lliée Bivouac is located on the border between the territories of Valpelline and Oyace in the green pastures of the Vallone di Verzignolette, bordering the Vallone di Verdona.Owned by the municipality of Oyace, it is a wooden structure that can accommodate up to 18 people, with a gas stove and a fountain right outside. Description

Siamo partiti da Vernosse, quindi da più in alto rispetto alla descrizione, facendo il sentiero n. 4; siamo giunti alla Tza de Verdonaz ed alla Cappella Madonna delle Nevi a quota 2338; siamo saliti su n. 105 al Colle Arpeyssaou a quota 2495 e scesi al Bivacco. Per la discesa abbiamo fatto un pezzo sul sentiero n. 105 poi sul n. 6 per l’Alpe Grand Verdagnoletta a quota 1952 per scendere fino alla strada poderale che ci ha portati al parcheggio chiudendo così l’anello. Il sentiero fatto salendo è veramente bello, ben tenuto e senza mai tratti impegnativi pur salendo di quota. Quello fatto scendendo è meno bello perché ci sono ancora alberi caduti e che, a volte, bisogna aggirare. La valutazione da 4 scende a 3. Rifugio ottimamente tenuto.

Reaching the start

From the Aosta East tollbooth, take the tunnel along the E27 road leading into the Great St. Bernard Valley, at the end of which you meet the SS27 coming from the center of Aosta. Just before Gignod, immediately after the last tunnel, proceed to the right following the SR28 of Valpelline, reaching the main town.Continue in the direction of Bionaz for 3 km until you find the right fork to Toules. Descend past the houses until you reach the bridge over the Buthier stream and park in the adjacent spaces.

The route

Cross the bridge and go to the right, immediately reaching the beautiful houses of Montcorvè where the signpost indicates trail n.6A for Bivacco de la Lliée and Alpe Vergignolettaz. We immediately enter the woods with a long upward traverse from right to left, crossing trail No. 6 coming from the valley floor, until we leave the woods at the meadows of Alpe Vergignolettaz 1379 m, where an inter-modal road coming from Oyace arrives.We follow the road to the right reaching the nearby huts of Chez Charvin 1408 m, then continue left past the hairpin bend where the road ends and becomes a beautiful mule track at the entrance to the vast pine forest of Bois de Cortelette. With a steady ascent that is never too steep, you traverse the forest, passing alongside some irrigation canals, and then enter towards the entrance of the Verzignolette valley, passing the ruins of Alpe Cortelette 1599 m.You gradually approach the course of the stream, until the valley suddenly opens up at the pastures below Alpe Vergignolaz (still not visible), where you stay to the right of the stream until you come in sight of the alpine pasture 1952 m.You stay to the right of the stream without passing the alpine pasture, continuing on the nice path until the end of the basin, in an area with some trees and rhododendron bushes where you meet the junction to Col Fouillou on the right, and path 6/105 on the left that will have to be followed.You traverse below the slopes of Becca Conge in an easterly direction reaching a stream gorge, which you cross comfortably above, to reach the grassy shelf with the large Arpeyssaou 2160 m alpine pasture located below a wooded ridge.The trail continues into the small valley above, and you climb a hump that gives access to a depression where the stream flows alongside, rushing in early spring with melting snowfields. If you turn your gaze carefully to the east, high up on a promontory you can already make out the wooden cross placed near the bivouac, the roof of which can be glimpsed.From here the route is now obvious, climb the easy grassy slopes to the left, on the slopes of Becca Morion, and then head right reaching the 2422 m bivouac, located at the edge of a beautiful pasture basin with Alpe la Lliée nearby. In the summer period as "neighbors" you will have a herd of grazing cows.With a further short effort, continuing on trail 105, it is advisable to climb in a few minutes to the nearby Col de l'Arpeyssaou 2492 m, which overlooks the Vallone di Verdona, another possible route to reach the bivouac starting from Oyace (or as a descent route should you wish to make a traverse).
