Description
The Tsa de Flassin is a beautiful stone alpine pasture, located in the valley of the same name, in the municipal territory of Saint-Oyen, and is enclosed between the high peaks of the area with the imposing northern slope of Mont Fallére on the left, and the gentler and more popular ski mountaineering peaks on the left, such as Mont Flassin and Testa Cordella.

The hike, while not presenting any major difficulties, is quite long and requires good training; the gorge is very busy in the winter period, especially by ski mountaineers, so there is almost always a trail to climb. Keep in mind that in the strictly winter months the trail is largely in the shade with cold temperatures, so it is a more enjoyable route in the early spring months, the snow is preserved long into late April.
Reaching the start
At Saint-Oyen, leave the E27 state road by turning left, before the village, following the "Flassin-Cerisey" signs.
Continue for about 2000 m until you reach the parking lot of the foyer du fond in Flassin.
The route
At the end of the first clearing you enter the picturesque Flassin valley; cross the stream and ascend the next clearing to the Flassin desot 1530 m.
Without an obligatory route, ascend the valley following roughly the route of the summer farm track, however, following the tracks usually present and if visible the trail markers of path no.7 directed to Col de Flassin.
You pass the alpine pasture Flassin de meiten 1640 m, at the edge of the coniferous forest. Shortly after, you arrive at Flassin Damon 1670 m, which for untrained hikers, this could already be an intermediate destination but still satisfying for the "magical" environment in its winter guise.
The ascent continues fairly gently, without significant gradients and gradually climbing the valley tends to widen, leaving room for the first views of the Comba del Flassin , enclosed between the high peaks that surround it.
It bends gradually to the right following the course of the main valley that bypasses the wooded slope of the Tete du Bois de Quart, neglecting a secondary valley to the left for the Col d'Ars, which is rather steep.
At about 2000 m the slope increases slightly, and without an obligatory path one climbs some bumps and depressions that precede the arrival at the beautiful alpine pasture of Tsa de Flassin 2249 m, which stands out against the steep east face of Mont Flassin. The alpine pasture is a point where usually in the winter period the first sun of the day is encountered, where you can then enjoy a well-deserved restorative break.
The descent is along the same route as the ascent.
