La Tour
Details
Description
This ancient building is a strong house, named after a noble family, the La Tour de Valpelline, its date of construction is uncertain, in fact for some sources it was built in the 10th cent, while for others it would date back to the 12th century.
It was the birthplace of Rudolf de Valpelline, bishop of Sion, and was the seat of the court.
It looks like a mighty structure with a square plan, in the 1700s it was adapted for residential use and remodeled, now it looks like a rural house. An engraving of the lintel from 1709 testifies to its readjustment.
