Description
This beautiful octagonal tower is unique to the Valle d'Aosta, in fact many legends have arisen around it, one of which has it that it was built by the Saracens in the year 1000 given its peculiar shape.
The first mention of the artifact dates back to 1197, the following century it was partially destroyed by the Savoy following diatribes with the lords of Oyace.
Almost 12 meters high and with a thickness of the bearing walls of almost 2 meters, it dominates from the top of a promontory the village of Crétaz, the entrance gate is raised and was accessible by a wooden staircase that was removed after the passage.
