An app for outdoor activities in the Grand Combin area is born Over 100 itineraries for hiking, snowshoeing and ski mountaineering
Grand Combin outdoor is born, a project that unites the Great St. Bernard Valley and Valpelline and aims to enhance and make more accessible the hiking and mountaineering offer of this territory, far from mass tourism and dedicated to outdoor tourism, through an interactive app that brings together the many opportunities present.
The app was born from a simple but ambitious idea: to offer a complete, reliable and always up-to-date tool for those who practice hiking, snowshoeing or ski mountaineering. At the base is a careful work of census and selection of the most interesting and suggestive itineraries, thanks to the collaboration of the alpine guides, experts of the sector and the actors of the territory. The information is then enriched by the precious advice of Gulliver, the great and reliable community of the outdoor world.
The app brings together 103 itineraries divided into three categories - hiking, snowshoeing and ski mountaineering - and offers detailed information for each trip, the ideal time of travel, and conditions updated by users. Among the main features is an interactive map, also available offline, which also offers all neighbouring trails, updated directly from the Aosta Valley geoportal. And also the difficulty, altitudes, departure and arrival points, the weather from the Regional Functional Centre, the avalanche bulletin provided by Aineva and all other useful information for planning your excursion. A complete app, to have everything at your fingertips, available in Italian, French and English.
To support the app, a website has also been developed, designed to offer a service and access to information to those who do not use mobile devices. The portal hosts the same up-to-date content as the app, a useful tool both for regular visitors and for those approaching the Grand Combin territories for the first time, in the heart of the Aosta Valley, a stone's throw from the city of Aosta and the Swiss border.
The app is already available in iOS and Android versions: it is free and can be downloaded from the respective stores or via the grandcombinoutdoor.it website.
The Grand Combin Outdoor project is one of the activities promoted by the Unité des Communes valdôtaines Grand-Combin to encourage ski mountaineering and hiking as a way of getting to know the area, and is made possible thanks to state resources from the Fund for the Development of Italian Mountains (FOSMIT), which supports measures to protect and enhance the mountains.
