New bike routes

Grand Combin Outdoor has added a new category. The app, released last year on the iOS and Android app stores, now also features a selection of mountain bike routes. Following on from hiking, snowshoeing and ski mountaineering, the Unité des Communes valdôtaines Grand-Combin has expanded its work mapping the trails that wind through the Gran San Bernardo and Valpelline valleys, adding the first routes for ‘fat tyre’ enthusiasts.

Grand Combin Outdoor is linked to the CollonBike project, approved in December 2025 as part of the Interreg VI-A Italy–Switzerland Cooperation Programme 2021–2027. The initiative aims to strengthen cycling mobility in the Grand-Combin and Val d’Hérens valleys through the creation of a cross-border ‘soft mobility’ hub, with the aim of developing shared governance and the integrated promotion of mid-mountain cycle routes.

Key actions under the project include the improvement and networking of cycle routes, the installation of dedicated infrastructure – such as e-bike charging points, signage and information panels – and the development of digital tools for navigation and the promotion of cycle tourism.

A number of pilot initiatives are also planned, focusing on safety and emergency response on mountain routes, route maintenance and the development of a cross-border cycling tourism product.

Whilst we await the new developments for 2027, the latest version of the app has just been released, featuring the first mountain bike routes – which represent just a selection of the opportunities available. This free, user-friendly digital tool now features 107 routes divided across the four activity categories, linked to 267 locations and services.

If you haven’t already done so, go to your smartphone’s app store, search for Grand Combin Outdoor and install it on your device.
